THE ARTIST

Peter de Guzman

One of the Philippines' foremost figurative-expressionist sculptors, with a body of work that has shaped the nation's civic and historical landscape.

Biography

A Life in Civic Form

Peter Tiamzon de Guzman is a CCP Thirteen Artists Awardee and Metrobank Foundation Awardee for Sculpture. A graduate and former professor of the UP College of Fine Arts, his work reflects a lasting engagement with memory, identity, and nationhood.

His figurative-expressionist language translates the inner weight of historical figures into permanent civic form — sculptures that do not merely commemorate, but compel. In every work, the body carries thought; posture becomes conviction; stillness becomes resolve.

"Luminara Gravitas presents the José Rizal Series — sculpted by Peter De Guzman." The institution commissions. The artist creates. The patron's legacy endures.
